Quien soy?

Some people would say I am quirky - I can never sit like a normal person, I sometimes have conversations with myself, I am known for my dented, smurf- colored car and often I am too passionate for my own good!

I am from Boston and grew up in quite a progressive household. My parents allowed us to think outside the box and follow our dreams - no matter how crazy they may be they were always in support of it. If we wanted to become part of Barnum & Baileys year-round spectacle, I am positive they would attend every show!

This is why I am able to go abroad for a couple of years and provide this for others. As a Peace Corps Volunteer I plan to bring these quirks and self-awareness to better assist me in serving the women and children of the Dominican Republic.

  1. Hi, Laura!

My name is Tricia, I am an RPCV from Morocco ('11-'13), and I'll be traveling to Dominican Republic in June. I'm wondering if you can provide me with some travelling insight, and maybe forward my message/information to any PCVs you know who might be willing to show me around or give me any good tidbits.

I love PCVs and I know my trip wouldn't be complete without seeing some of the more rural areas of the country! Do you have any recommendations for must-see places/events? I'm travelling on a budget, so cheapish lodging recommendations would also be helpful, or if any PCVs would be willing to host myself and my boyfriend for a couple nights we can promise some American treats :) What do you guys do for fun/food/escaping site?

Thank you, and good luck with your service!
